  • Dr. Smith, principal YHS and Mr. Farar, District Business manager will be present to answer questions
     


  • Mold Testing:  Testing should be completed by Wednesday 09/20/00.
  • Surface samples taken from  the gymnasiumonly.

  • Alternaria,Arthrinium, Apergillus/Penicillium,Botrytis, Chaetomium, Cladosporium, Nigrospora, Smuts/Myxomycetes, Stachybotrys


    Infection
    Infection is generally limited to individuals who are immuno-suppressed.
    Toxicosis
  • Toxic metabolites [mycotoxins] of digestion in fugi
  • Need not be alive to produce them
  • Generally non-volatile and inhalation exposure occurs after disturbing the contaminated source
  • Cold and flu-like symptoms, headache, nose bleeds, dermatitis an immune suppression

  • Allergy
    Conjuctivitis, rhinitis, bronchitis, asthma, hpersensitive pneumonitis
    Irritation
  • volatile organic compounds during degrading of substates that cause the "moldy" odor                associated with fungal contamination
  • irritating to mucous membranes, causes headaches, and other symptoms

  • 09/20/00 student health survey, health resource information

  • Chronic illness cards are being reviewed and personal contacts for asthmatics being made.



  • Parents & Students:
    Packets are under consideration but we request that parents and students contact the teachers first to request homework.  If demand requires, we will pursue other options.
