YUMA HIGH SCHOOL

The high school career center can help students find their place in the ever-changing workforce. Through practical application and hands-on learning, the career center can help you find your way to an amazing career while in school or after graduation.

Many employers searching for high school employees will usually go to the local high school and place a job posting before going through other job resource centers.  This is to give back to the community and give youth hands-on work experience.  If you’re unable to find a posting that interests you, then ask your career center assistant if they can give you other great tips to use when searching for a part-time career.

Many of the jobs that are offers through the career center are part-time or seasonal jobs that during summer or winter break.  This allows students to gain real-world work experience, while at the same time not distracting students from their number one priority, which is learning.  Many times, the employer will re-hire students for future seasonal work if the employer feels they’ve done a good job.

Students can explore a variety of careers at local career fairs, many of which they can visit through school field trips. Stop by your local career center for permission slips to upcoming college/career fairs in your area.  Space is usually limited, so it’s good to sign up early before the open slots fill-up.
